Marsh Valley Pioneer Day Rodeo

July 9th and 10th was the Marsh Valley Pioneer Day Rodeo. Allie Bohus helped manage all the queens, including myslef, with the duties involving the rodeo. We had our "Buzz" ride introduction at the beginning of the rodeo each night, where the Marsh Valley Royalty, IMPRA Queen Bryn Christensen, and I were introduced. The Marsh Valley Royalty packed sponsor flags and I was given the privilege of packing the IMPRA (Intermountain Profession Rodeo Association) Flag. What a night! The committee did a GRAND job of getting things together such as vendor booths, food booths, a candy parade through town on Saturday, a stock contractor with GREAT Stock, and in all- an EXCITING rodeo! The crowd was entertained by Barrel Man Fritz, who Saturday night actually asked me to be a part of his act!! Oh Dear.... Had to dance in front of the ENTIRE AUDIENCE... BLIND-FOLDED!! At least he was kind enough not to leave me as last man standing... He had his sister participate as well, and she turned out to be the one picked on for the night. All in good humor- the audience cheered her on immensely! :) Both nights were full of extremely talented competitors, and this will definately be a rodeo that continues for years to come!!

* 4th of July Celebrations!!! *

The 4th of July brought MANY activities from being stretched from the 3rd through the 5th!!

On Saturday, the 3rd of July, I participated in the parade held in my hometown of Inkom, Idaho. I rode the new addition to my family "Tango"- for her first parade she did beautifully!! Shelbey joined as well promoting the Marsh Valley Pioneer Day Rodeo, and together we had a BLAST! There were TONS of people there to watch and collect the candy being tossed. From the parade, it turned into a town celebration with vendors, food, 3 on 3 basketball tournaments, horseshoe tournaments, and local talent competitions. They honored veterans, had a flag raising ceremony, and posted flags and pictures in a field for all to see. It was a GREAT turn out for such a small town and the patriotism was beaming in everyone that came! That night I watched the firework show in Fort Hall, Idaho where the Shoshone Bannock tribe celebrated Indians Day. Such a freedom we have!!!

On Sunday, the 4th of July, Pocatello held its annual Parade. Here I was joined by DNCFR Princess Randi Davis, DNCFR Committee members Brad, Tom, Donna (Step-Mom), David (Dad), and K.T. (on horseback), Shelbey:: representing Bancroft Rodeo::, and 3 nieces and a nephew!! Whew what a Group!! I loved seeing even MORE people out and about celebrating the freedoms we have endoured and the people responsible for that freedom! The fun filled activities continued that day at the Bannock County Fairgrounds where they had " The Greatest Show in Idaho" fireworks show, vendors, food, and activities for all ages!!! To say the least, I was a tuckered pup when the weekend was through, but I was very proud and honored to be reminded of the freedoms we have and to support the people who help in keeping those freedoms. Thank you to the soldiers and their families for ALL they do **May God Bless you and keep you safe!**

Bancroft Queen Contest

On June 29th - Bancroft held thier Queen Contest and I was asked to help judge. :) All the girls that participated were required to perform a horsemanship pattern and answer 2 questions about the Bancroft Rodeo: How old is the rodeo? (108 yrs old):: How to you compete in the rodeo? (you enter and pay your dues). Each girl did very well with their patterns and answers! It was quite entertaining to hear some of the answers to how old the rodeo was... needless to say, they ALL knew it was OLD! The former Queen, Shaylee England, helped the girls in setting the pattern and intrigued the audience with her free style pattern, all while the judges asked the Queen contestants and Jr. Queen contestants the rodeo questions. She did a GREAT job representing the Bancroft Rodeo, and was even given the privilege of being the "Super Senior Queen". Congratulations to all the girls! Have a BLAST this year representing the sport we love and cherish every moment of it. ;) See you down the trail!!

DNCFR Committee Picnic

June 23rd was the annual DNCFR Committee Picnic. We had TONS of wonderful food brought (and cooked) by Board Members, the new royalty- Randi {Princess}, Shania {Jr. Queen}, and I {Sr. Queen}- were introduced, and we were able to meet new :voted in: Board Members. It was wonderful seeing everyone out in support for the committee and to be able to visit with everyone we will be working with this year! :)
The Committee is very important to this rodeo. They are volunteers who work extremely hard to see that the rodeo is successful! You really couldn't ask for a better rodeo family. The Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo is something they find to be a WONDERFUL asset to Pocatello, the PRCA, and those who love the sport of rodeo. I tip my hats to you all and thank you for the amount of hard work each of you put into this event, and I look forward to promoting it to my fullest ability. Not to mention, getting my hands dirty along side each of you when the big week gets here:: April 6-9, 2011. = See you there!!! =

Marsh Valley Rodeo Queen Contest- McCammon, Idaho

June 19th was not ONLY the IHSRA Finals, but it was also another Queen Contest! I helped in judging the Marsh Valley Pioneer Days Rodeo Queen Contest- Horsemanship. There were quite a few girls that came out to participate, and each did a wonderful job displaying their horsemanship skills. There were 2 age divisions- Sr. and Jr. Queens, and they recognize 1st and 2nd attendant in each division. Upon winning, the girls are given the privilege to participtate in a 4th of July Parade, the McCammon Rodeo Parade, and pack flags during the rodeo performance! What an honor! Congratulations to all the girls;

Idaho High School Rodeo Association (IHSRA) Queen Contest

On June 12th I was asked to help judge the Idaho High School Rodeo Association (IHSRA) Queen Contest. I was very impressed with all of their hard work, natural talent, and pleased to know they all wanted to be a part of representing such a GREAT sport!

Horsemanship followed that Wednesday, with each of the girls showing their ability to handle a horse in a set pattern, a flag run, and best of all, their "Buzz" ride! What a sight! All the girls did VERY well in this event.

Coronation and the IHSRA Finals were held the following Saturday. Each District was announced with a short grand entry in front of the stands, and Claira Hollingsworth was crowned IHSRA Queen. Shania Laird won 1st runner up- and had the opprotunity to compete for Silver State in Fallon, Nevada (As a freshman- she did VERY well, and I look forward to watching her compete in the future). Congratulations to all contestants and their families for a job well done!!

Marsh Valley Pioneer Days Queen Contest!!

The 73rd Annual Marsh Valley Pioneer Days Rodeo Queen Contest will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 6:00 PM at the McCammon, Idaho rodeo arena.

Girls ages 6-18 are welcome!! You will be judged on the completion of a Horsemanship Pattern only.
